TradingView to Gate.io: send alerts to Gate.io futures and spot

AlgoVesta places your TradingView alerts on Gate.io with an API key limited to spot and futures trading. Futures positions are sized in whole contracts and protected by stop-loss and take-profit triggers; on spot the two levels are separate trigger orders. The exchange keeps your money, AlgoVesta only sends orders.

How it works

1
Create a Gate.io API key

In API Management add a note such as AlgoVesta and enable Spot Trade and Futures Trade.

2
Connect it

Paste key and secret in AlgoVesta; Gate.io does not use a passphrase.

3
Try it in paper mode

Gate.io has no test environment in AlgoVesta, so run the bot in paper mode first with a virtual balance.

4
Go live from TradingView

Switch the bot to live, paste the webhook URL into your alert and let the next signal fill on Gate.io.

Whole contracts on Gate.io futures

Gate.io futures are traded in contracts, and an order has to be a whole number of them. That is the detail most likely to change the size you see compared with the size you typed. AlgoVesta converts your margin and leverage into contracts, rounds to the nearest whole contract, and opens it only if the result is within 20% of your amount. Small amounts on large contracts can fall outside that band; the bot card then names the smallest and next amounts that would fill.

Once the position is open, the stop-loss and take-profit are placed as price triggers on Gate.io and confirmed there.

Spot on Gate.io

On spot, Gate.io accepts the stop-loss and the take-profit as two independent trigger orders, so both levels are placed and both are checked. Because they are separate orders rather than one linked pair, a manual sell of the same coins in the Gate.io app can leave a trigger with nothing to sell; closing through AlgoVesta removes the protective orders together with the position.

Testing without a testnet

AlgoVesta does not offer a Gate.io test environment. Paper mode covers that gap: the bot receives the same alerts and simulates the fills on a $5,000 virtual balance, so you can check symbols, sizes and exits before a real order is sent.

The alert message

Paste this into the alert's message box. The two plot values come from your indicator; leverage is ignored on spot.

{
  "symbol": "{{ticker}}",
  "action": "buy",
  "price": "{{close}}",
  "stop_loss": "{{plot_0}}",
  "take_profit": "{{plot_1}}",
  "leverage": 10
}

For a Pine strategy, use the strategy template so exits and reversals work. Do not send only {{strategy.order.action}}: on an exit it reads "sell" and would open a short instead of closing. The market_position fields tell AlgoVesta when the strategy is flat.

{
  "symbol": "{{ticker}}",
  "action": "{{strategy.order.action}}",
  "market_position": "{{strategy.market_position}}",
  "prev_market_position": "{{strategy.prev_market_position}}",
  "position_size": "{{strategy.position_size}}",
  "price": "{{close}}"
}

TradingView only shows the Webhook URL box when two-factor authentication is on in your TradingView account. TradingView cannot send custom headers, so AlgoVesta verifies the source from TradingView's own server addresses and auto-trades only alerts it can verify.

Connect your Gate.io API key

Create the key in Gate.io with these permissions: Spot Trade + Futures Trade. Withdrawal and transfer stay disabled, because AlgoVesta never needs them: it can place and close orders, but it cannot move funds out of your account. Gate.io keys have a key and a secret only, with no passphrase.

If you restrict the key to IP addresses, the AlgoVesta connection wizard shows the two server addresses to add. The full click-by-click guide, with what each Gate.io screen looks like, is in the help center.

Rules that apply to every order

  • A stop-loss on every order: from the signal, or from your own percentage or distance. No stop-loss source, no order.
  • A daily-loss limit that pauses new entries until the next UTC day.
  • Maximum open positions and maximum trades per day per bot.
  • A panic button that closes what AlgoVesta opened and leaves your own positions alone.

On crypto exchanges an order opens in about 4.1 seconds on average, from the signal arriving to a filled order with its protection attached, measured across AlgoVesta's own executions.

FAQ

Gate.io questions

The most common questions before you decide — if you still have doubts, start here.

Futures orders must be whole contracts. AlgoVesta picks the nearest whole contract and only opens it if it is within 20% of the amount in your alert.
No. A Gate.io key has a key and a secret. Enable Spot Trade and Futures Trade and leave withdrawals off.
Not through AlgoVesta. Use paper mode instead; it runs the same alerts against a virtual balance.
Yes. Stop-loss and take-profit are two separate trigger orders on Gate.io spot, and both are read back after the buy.
Set a stop-loss rule in the bot, as a percentage or a fixed distance. Without any stop-loss source the order is not opened.
